RILEY IS ONE YEAR OLD TODAY!!! We can't believe how quickly her first year has gone.
Saturday 13 November 2010
The best thing about taking Riley for a walk at British Camp (other than the fact that it tires her out) is that she is allowed into the Malvern Hills Hotel opposite the car park, and so it is a great excuse to stay for dinner. Part way through dinner (but thankfully minutes after our main course had been served) there was a power cut. Surprisingly Riley didn't seem bothered, despite having had to bark at a few people who arrived shortly before.
We didn't realise just how many pubs and restaurants were dog friendly until we had Riley; which makes it so much easier to take her everywhere with us. Jayne

An evening visit to Ringcraft in Cheltenham, the first for several weeks, and unfortunately we are guilty of not giving her much practice. Despite this she performed well, though standing still for any length of time, particularly while waiting her turn to be judged still remains a problem. Mike

As Mike is in Macau, I decided to drive down to Somerset and take Riley for a walk on the beach at Weston-super-Mare. I collected my two neices and Ruby the Tibetan Terrier on the way. One ball and two dogs and you really don't have to do anything to keep Riley amused. Maybe we should consider another SWD ... Jayne

Another visit to the vet, as she has one very red front paw which she has been spending a lot of time licking. The diagnosis was that it was some form of infection, possibly caused by a small cut or thorn becoming infected, though it is not obvious exactly where. A course of antibiotic tablets was prescribed, which she loved; no need to disguise with food! Presumably they have some sort of flavouring in them.
We also took the opportunity to weigh her again and she has stayed at a constant 15.85 kgs since that last time she was weighed in early October - perhaps she is fully grown? Mike
